For this wreath, I made a total of 6 jumbo sized pompoms with the Clover Extra-Large Pompom maker and 24 pompoms measuring about 2 ½ inches. You can add a looped ribbon to the top, or just hang the wreath itself onto a hook. I decided the placement of my pompoms by first organizing them on my work surface, and then glued them onto the wreath. You can glue pompoms all the way around, or just cluster them on the bottom like I did. Glue the pompoms onto the wreath hoop overlapping the ribbon. Once the glue has cooled, trim the ribbon to random lengths. I chose a few strands of satin ribbon I had laying around. Lay the ribbon on the base of the wreath hoop and secure with hot glue.

There are really no rules! If you’ve never made a pompom, check out my blog post to learn how to make one. You can do solid colours, combos, or make them random like I did. I had fun with it and chose totally random colours. Make a collection of medium to small sized pompoms. Natural wood looks great too, however if you plan on hanging it outdoors I highly recommend sealing it with varnish first (trust me, I learned this the hard way and had a wreath grow mold last year). I chose to paint the hoop white and the inner side a bright yellow. – wooden hoop (I used part of an embroidery hoop) Take the pencil and tie one end of the string around the pencil near the tip. Here’s what you need to create one for yourself: Make a selection of pompoms in different sizes and colour (to fill a wreath measuring 60cm across we made 50 pompoms in 4 different sizes). Hold the middle of your pom-pom and carefully use scissors to cut all around the edge, between the two templates.

Cut off the wool, then cut an extra length of wool about 25cm long. Not wanting them to go to waste, I decided to use them to throw together this bright and colourful pompom wreath for our front door. Keep wrapping until you’ve nearly run out of space on your cardboard template.

I ended up with a lovely collection of pompoms, but didn’t really have a project in mind. I wanted to test out different methods and compare all the pompom makers I have. A few months ago I made a bunch of pompoms for my blog post “ How to Make a Perfect Pompom“.
